Oakley Shield sports glasses are now available with prescription lenses
Want to see clearly while still maintaining the look of a genuine Oakley shield? With Oakley Shield Fusion, you no longer have to choose. This new technology makes it possible to wear selected Oakley shield sports glasses with prescription lenses without a separate insert clip behind the shield.
For athletes who need prescription glasses, wearing shield-style sports glasses has long been a challenge. After all, a shield consists of a single, continuous lens surface. Oakley Shield Fusion changes all that.

What is Oakley Shield Fusion?
Shield Fusion is a technology that integrates your prescription into the shield. To achieve this, a corrective lens is applied to the back of the shield using a lamination technique. From the front, this solution is virtually invisible.
The result? You retain the sporty, streamlined look of an Oakley shield while getting the vision correction you need.
That makes the Oakley Shield Fusion an attractive option for activities such as cycling, running, and other active sports where a wide field of view, protection, and a sporty fit are important.
No more separate RX insert
A key difference from traditional solutions is that Shield Fusion does not have a separate RX insert behind the shield. The prescription is integrated into the shield itself. As a result, the design stays much closer to the original look of Oakley sports glasses.
For athletes, this means a combination of:
* a sleek and sporty shield design
* prescription correction
* no separate insert behind the lens
* the signature coverage of an Oakley shield
* the ability to combine the technology with available Oakley Prizm™ lenses
Oakley Prizm™ and prescription lenses
Good news for Oakley Prizm™ fans: this lens technology is still available with the Shield Fusion model. Prizm™ was developed to enhance color, contrast, and detail.
So you don’t have to choose between Oakley Prizm™ and prescription lenses. The two can be combined with Shield Fusion.
Which Oakley models are available with prescription lenses?
At launch, Shield Fusion will be available for a number of popular Oakley shield models:
Oakley also notes that the product line will be further expanded in the future to include more shield-style sunglasses.
This is especially interesting for athletes who enjoy riding or exercising while wearing Sutro sunglasses but who, until now, thought that prescription Oakley Sutro sunglasses weren’t possible without compromising the design.
What lens strengths are available with Shield Fusion?
Oakley Shield Fusion is currently available in prescription lenses for single-vision corrections. At launch, the power range is from +3.00 to -3.00, with a cylindrical range of +3.00 to -3.00. According to the product information, the available prescription range is expected to be expanded further in the future.
Because prescription sports glasses must be precisely tailored to the wearer, accurate measurements are important. We take precise measurements for your sports glasses to ensure that the prescription is optimally suited to your eyes and the fit of the glasses.
What if your vision changes?
That has also been taken into account. If your prescription changes, a new Shield Fusion shield can be made based on your new prescription. Because the prescription is part of the shield, the entire lens section is replaced in that case.
Who might be interested in the Oakley Shield Fusion?
Shield Fusion is especially appealing if you:
* need prescription glasses while exercising
* prefer to wear a large Oakley shield lens
* don’t want a separate RX insert behind your sports lens
* want to wear an Oakley Sutro, Sutro Lite, or Sutro Lite Sweep
* want to combine Oakley Prizm™ with your prescription
